If rumours are to be believed, Crytek are set to announce a fourth installment in the over-the-top FPS series.
OXM report that their sources have seen TimeSplitters 4 in action. “Trusted OXM sources have claimed that they’ve seen TimeSplitters 4 running. That’s no guarantee that it’ll be released – at least one version of Star Wars: Battlefront 3 was cancelled without ever being announced – but it’s a promising sign” the magazine wrote.
“If we do get a proper sequel, we’re likely to see the old games appear, too,” it notes.
TimeSplitters: Future Perfect (2005) was the most recent release in the series for PS2, Xbox and GameCube, with the franchise then fading out of the limelight after Crytek saved TimeSplitters studio Free Radical from closing down.
Free Radical became Crytek UK and are now said to have TimeSplitters 4 in the oven for the next generation of consoles, according to a Crytek insider.
