Max Payne 3 details emerge

15 June 2009

The first legitimate Max Payne 3 details have been published in the latest issue of Game Informer Magazine.

New details

– Max will be addicted to pain killers and his addiction will affect gameplay. Not much more is known at this point, but we sincerely hope it is nothing like the implementation of Malaria in FarCry2.

– The game will be set in the urban ghettos of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

– Max left New York in order to “escape his demons”.

– Bullet time will be more “visceral” and violent than the original and a new cover system as well as fully destructible environments will be included.

– Max Payne 3 will feature online multiplayer.

– The game will make use of Rockstar’s RAGE technology as seen in Grand Theft Auto IV.

– The events in Max Payne 3 will take place 12 years after those of Max Payne 2.

– In the time between the second game and the new one Max has been working as a bodyguard for a wealthy family in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

– Max will be able to use human bodies as shields.

– The previous voice of Max Payne, James McCaffrey, will not be reprising his role in Max Payne 3.

Rockstar’s Rob Nelson was quick to point out that although a cover system is being implemented “the way that you experience this world isn’t just take cover, shoot, and move to the next piece of cover.”

Max Payne 3 is scheduled for release late in 2010 and will be released on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
