Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Columbia Pictures is currently developing a film adaptation of the popular PS3 exclusive title.
Kyle Ward will be writing the script for the movie. Ward has previously worked on other videogame to movie adaptations, “Kane&Lynche” and “Hitman 2”.
The film’s story line will follow treasure hunter Nate Drake, the descendent of famous explorer Sir Francis Drake, as he searches for El Dorado, the fabled golden city supposedly located in South America.
Like the game, Drake will have stiff competition from rival treasure hunters while searching for the famous treasure. The movie will also see Drake going up against the mutated descendents of Nazis and Spaniards.
Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was released in 2007 and is still considered to be one the most important PS3 exclusives by many. The sequel, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is due for release in November this year.
