Battlefield 1943 to hit consoles July 8

3 July 2009

DICE has announced that the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Battlefield 1943 will become available for download next week, with the Xbox 360 version going live on Wednesday 8 July and the PS3 version becoming available the following day.

The Xbox 360 version will cost 1200MS points and the PS3 version will cost $15 (R120). The game will come in the form of a 560MB (+-R35) download and will be available on Xbox Live and Playstation Network.

Initially the game will feature 3 maps; Wake Island, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. Dice has announced that a fourth map (Coral Sea) will become available only when Xbox 360 and PS3 players log a combined total of 43million kills.

The PC version however is still scheduled for a September release. Dice has issued a statement claiming that the additional development time for the PC version is necessary to make sure that it is up to scratch.
