Wolfenstein RPG released for iPhone

Wolfenstein RPG for the iPhone is now officially available for download at the international App store.

Ported by Firemint and published by EA, the game is priced at $4.99 (R40) and requires a 33MB download. If offers eight hours of gameplay, nine levels, sixteen weapons, cut scenes and hidden treasure.

Original Wolfenstein developer John Carmack, who is a vehement advocate for mobile game ports, told Touch Arcade that he is more than pleased with the result  “Firemint did a really good job on making [Wolfenstein RPG] up to iPhone quality levels,”

Despite being ready in May publishers chose to hold off on release due to concerns surrounding confusion with Wolfenstein 3D Classic. It was however launched at the Japanese app store but was later pulled.

There are a number of additional iPhone port plans in the works including a multi player enabled Doom, an RPG Doom II as well as Quake, Quake 2 and Quake Arena.
