A blog post by Infinity Ward blogger FourZeroTwo has revealed that Modern Warfare 2 will feature dual wield desert eagle pistols.
“I was presenting a singleplayer mission at the GameCrazy show this morning on stage and happened to walk over a body that had Akimbo (dual wield side arm), therefore the icon for the weapon popped up on screen and the room went crazy with chants demanding I pick it up and use it.
So I did.
Happened to be dual Deagles. Now to calm some initial fears of “OMG! Overpowered!”. Akimbo is limited and balanced, just like EVERYTHING in the game. It’s limited to sidearms, harder to aim than standard and you can’t go ADS (aim down sights) since you have a weapon in each hand; Among other balancing techniques, so don’t freak out before you see it in action.”
ommunity feedback has thus far been mixed, with some players stating that the dual wield option is unrealistic and others expressing excitement about the new feature.
One user has this to say on Kotaku:
“I doubt it is going to cause much imbalance in all honesty. It will probably go something like this:
Spotter – “OMG that tango is like totally dual wielding two gold deagles… man that is bad ass!”
Sniper – “Oh yeah… how cool is that!”
Spotter – “Range 200 meters, wind light north easterly.”
Sniper – “Taking shot… tango down.”
Spotter – “Man I am totally calling those deagles!”
Really guys all the dual wield will be good for is if the guy is right in your face. Otherwise my AK103 is going to totally pwn dem noobs!”
