iPhone and iPod touch gets Grand Theft Auto

1 September 2009

Take-Two interactive announced this morning that a port of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be making its way to the iPhone and the iPod Touch in coming months.

No firm release date or price was given. Despite this the indication was made that it would be out this fall, which in southern hemisphere terms typically indicates a September to October release.

China Town Wars was released on the Nintendo DS earlier this year and will be making its way to the PSP on October 20, just in time for the release of the PSP Go. The game has been very well received and currently holds an average score of 93 of Metacritic.

The story line involves the typical mixture of guns, drugs and women but with a focus on the Chinese Triads.

This sees yet another game port to the iPhone. In the past year Apple fans have been happy to be given the likes of Wolfenstein and Doom for their iPhone’s and iPod’s. With the upcoming release of titles such as Grand Theft Auto and Quake to the platform games developers will surely be pricking up their ears to take advantage of this new facet to mobile gaming.
