CoD4 patch angers gamers

7 September 2009

Infinity Ward has released a new patch for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare which is intended to stop players from using modified controllers to effectively cheat by maintaining unrealistically high fire rates when using semi-automatic weapons.

The patch which has been released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game has put a fire-rate cap of 0.5 seconds on all non-automatic weapons.
This means that players using the G3 for example can only fire a maximum of two rounds in one second.

The patch has lead to widespread complaints from gamers who say that 0.5 seconds is far too long a delay, even for players using standard controllers. Indeed, many players were able to get at least 3 shots off within a second without exploiting modified controllers before the patch was implemented.

The PC version of the game remains unchanged, with no patches being released since 1.7.
