It seems likely that yet another popular gaming franchise is to be made into a movie.
Trademork recently picked up that in late September Activision filed to protect that trademark ‘Call of Duty’ in relation to “pre-recorded movies featuring comedy, drama, action, adventure, music, theatrical performances and/or animation”.
In May it was widely reported that a Call of Duty movie was being discussed for release in theatres globally. Despite this Activision CEO Bobby Kotick refused to comment and within a few weeks the controversy appeared to have been forgotten.
It seems likely now that Activision is indeed planning to go ahead with a film adaptation to the game. Given the franchise’s popularity this would appear to be a logical route to take.
IGN has also revealed that Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling recently posted the following via his Twitter account.
“First round of meetings in Paris wrapped. Grabbing lunch with Xavier Gens, director of the Hitman film while in town. Talking game films.”
This suggests that a Call of Duty movie may already be in the works.
Any possibility that Call of Duty will be made into a film adaption is bound to divide opinion amongst gamers. We at My Gaming simply want to know if it will feature Nazi zombies.
