PSP Go! boosts PSP sales 300 percent

8 October 2009

Since the PSP Go! was officially announced exactly one week ago, PSP sales have increased 300 percent.

Sony Computer Entertainment America corporate communications director Patrick Seybold told Gamasutra that the launch of the new handheld has generated strong consumer interest.

The hype generated by the PSP Go! has rubbed off on the current PSP 3000, which has seen a strong increase in sales over the past week.

The PSP Go! is available at select retailers now and carries a recommended retail price of R3500. The new device relies solely on digital downloads, and does not feature any disk input mechanism. With major PSP releases weighing in at around 1GB each, the PSP Go! is only really suitable for gamers with bandwidth to burn.
