In keeping with our new weekend feature we give you an update of this week’s most popular stories on My Gaming.
Modern Warfare delay scare and price hike
The largest feature this week, by a large margin, was My Gaming’s coverage on a possible delay in the release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 across all platforms. Fortunately this proved to be a hoax and the game is still expected to release on schedule for console, with a PC release date still unconfirmed.
This was followed by the announcement that the PC version of Modern Warfare 2 would retail for R499 locally, after previously being confirmed to release at R399. The increase marks a considerable amount more than what PC gamers are used to paying for new titles.
Our resident MMORPG expert Lydon Mc Grane gave his first two week impressions of the newly released Aion. Despite initial issues with server queues and lag times the response was generally positive.
Megarom Interview and Woolworths Gaming
This week also saw us conduct a comprehensive interview with one of South Africa’s largest games distributors Megarom. This gave an interesting insight on how the local industry functions its growth over the last few years.
We also found out more regarding retailer Woolworth’s plans to enter the local gaming market and revealed their console pricing, which is pleasingly competitive.
Hardware news
We looked at AMD’s 11 reasons to buy a DX 11 GPU, and took a look at AMDs budget DX 11 GPU – the HD 5770, as well as revealed its projected local retail price.

This week we reviewed Demon’s Souls and Dirt 2, both of which were awarded very high scores.
