Reports are flooding in that Borderlands, which was released yesterday in North America, is selling better than expected.
Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has revealed via his Twitter account he is “Getting reports from everywhere that Borderlands is selling out.”
“If you want a copy, grab one fast.” He continued, adding that it was all about
“supply and demand.”
This may of course be an elaborate publicity stunt.
The cell shaded FPS, which features RPG elements and includes an almost infinite number of guns, is expected to do well in terms of sales in the coming weeks. Borderlands has been hyped by the gaming media for some time as one of the most anticipated games of 2009.
During our hands on impression of the game we found that it was an interesting and dynamic shooter which didn’t let itself get lost in cut scenes and excessive grinding.
Instead it focuses more on arcade style gameplay with added RPG elements which offer a level of longevity to the title.
Borderlands will be released locally on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC next week.
