Despite boycotts and petitions, Infinity Ward’s hugely hyped military shooter has gone on to enjoy the fastest selling launch day of all time.
According to VGchartz over 7 million units were sold on day one. While these figures are very impressive, it is worth noting that VGChartz has been known to publish inaccurate sales data from time to time. They reported that Halo ODST sold 2 million units on day one, when in reality Microsoft sold 1.8million in its launch month.
VGChartz reports that 55% of unit sales were on Xbox 360, 33% PS3 and just 12% PC. Although Xbox 360 dominates internationally, the Call of Duty franchise has traditionally sold strongest on PC in SA according to local distributor Megarom.
