Pirates have already cracked Halo 5 and Forza Horizon 3

3 October 2016

Despite the news that Microsoft had introduced a new DRM encryption system, pirates have already cracked Halo 5: Forge and Forza Horizon 3.

“While we won’t go into full details and we won’t share links to where you can find ways to crack this new encryption system, we can confirm that PC gamers can run modified files,” reports DSOGaming.

The games were reportedly using a new secure encrypted appx format.

“When the user installs these games from the Windows Store, they get decrypted on-the-fly using the Encrypting File System feature of Windows.”

However Microsoft messed up, it left open processes giving crackers an entry point into deciphering how the files inside the apps are arranged and named.
