Well if the industry spouting gloom and doom over the Assassin’s Creed movie never seeing the light of day, then you can possible add BioShock to the list of game-movies you’ll likely not be seeing any time soon.

Responding to IndustryGamer’s question posed around the planned film, BioShock creator Ken Levine said they’ve somewhat lost the push to get the film made.

“We got very close to having it get made – we had a deal in place and a director. But for us there’s no burning [desire] to have a movie made just to get it made.”

He went on to highlight the plight of all game-movies – in that the film would have to appeal to fans as well as complete newcomers alike – and how, unless they could achieve that level of consistency, there’s simply no need to get a film made.

That’s not to say that the project has been canned; it seems like it’s just sitting in limbo, with no real energy behind its production at the moment.

Not that it really matters – after all, games are our first love, and with BioShock Infinite heading our way next year, I think Mr. Levine’s priorities are in the right place.
