Capcom loses local distributer

30 January 2009

After a relatively short-lived run with Ster Kinekor games, Capcom is once again without a local distributer.

Xboxgaming broke the story when a post on the Take2 forum by a Take2 representative surfaced.

The post reads “SK (Ster Kinekor) no longer have the CAPCOM license. So at the moment we are waiting to hear which of the other suppliers in SA have taken over the license. Hopefully this does not take too long to sort out. We really don’t want to miss the launch of Resident Evil 5 as well as Street Fighter 4.”

At this point the future of Capcom games in South Africa remains uncertain. The most likely successor to the CAPCOM distribution rights is Megarom, who have been unavailable for comment. Watch this space for updates.

Alternatively, there is always Shopto who will ship games from Britain, usually for less than they are available locally (including shipping fees).
