For those who don’t know, Watchmen was a critically acclaimed comic book series written by Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons and John Higgins. The 12 part series was originally released over a two year period between 1986 and 1987, and has since been republished in a collected form.
A comment made by Time magazine perhaps captures the excitement that surrounded Watchmen best:
“A superlative feat of imagination, combining sci-fi, political satire, knowing evocations of comics past and bold reworkings of current graphic formats into a dysutopian mystery story.”
The movie is now due for release on March 6. Warner Bros. has announced that they will be releasing Watchmen: The End is Nigh Part 1 as a game for PC and Xbox 360 on March 4. The Playstation 3 version will follow a day later on March 5.
According to the official site, the game will be available through STEAM, Direct to Drive, Playstation Network and Xbox Live, with no sign of a hard copy release.
The game will serve as a prequel to the film, and is based on a 1987 pen and paper RPG that was co-written by Alan Moore himself, so it may actually be a decent movie/game port for a change.
There is no availability regarding pricing at this point, but demo versions will be available on all platforms.
