RAGE gets confirmed for 2009 (Debunked)

9 March 2009

RAGE was announced in August 2007 at QuakeCon and is a first-person shooter and driving game that is being developed by id Software, the developer responsible for two of the most important first-person shooter franchises in gaming history; Quake and Doom.

The game will be set in the near future in a world that is gripped by post-apocalyptic destruction brought on by a comet collision with earth. The gameplay will involve racing, tuning and upgrading cars as well as various first person shooter elements.

The game will come to PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

In an interview with GameTrailer.com, id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead confirmed that the game will be out in 2009.

When the interviewer asked Hoolenshead “We’re probably looking at this next year at least right, not this year?”, the CEO responded “No, we’ll be out this year”

UPDATE

Apparently, the confirmation of a 2009 release was actually the result of a miscommunication. id Software CEO was falsely quoted as saying “No, we’ll be out this year”. The quote should have read “No, we wont be out this year”

So there you have it, RAGE will definitely not be out in 2009.
