A brief product description posted on Amazon.com contains some interesting tidbits regarding its storyline.
According to the description, Mass Effect 2 will take players “to the darkest reaches of space, where you must uncover the mystery behind the disappearance of humans across many worlds.”
“Prepare yourself for a suicide mission to save mankind. Travel the galaxy to assemble a team of soldiers and combat specialists, and launch an all-out assault on the heart of enemy territory.”
The first Mass Effect was launched in 2007 for Xbox 360, and was followed in 2008 by a Windows release. The Sci-Fi RPG was well received, scoring over 9/10 in most major publications.
The Amazon listing reports that the game will become available on January 10 2010.
Additional points on Amazon report that the game will feature a “refined dialogue system” and “numerous improvements to the intense third-person combat”.
At this time, Mass Effect 2 is confirmed for a PC and Xbox 360 release, with no word on whether or not PS3 owners will get a taste this time around.
