The original Assassin’s Creed was a mixed bag. On one hand it was a technical masterpiece offering rich and detailed vistas, a number of living cities, and a fully interactive environment. Players could climb almost any structure as long as they could find something to grip on to. The game offered an unparalleled level of environmental interaction, yet it failed to win over the majority of gamers.
For all its technical splendor, the combat and quest structure became repetitive and monotonous. Many also criticized the game, saying that the implementation of the modern world setting ruined it’s immersion factor.
At any rate, Assassin’s Creed was definitely something worth talking about, and it maintains its fair share of fans.
The game was always planned as a trilogy, and the first sequel was announced a while back. Now an official teaser site has gone live. In true teaser site fashion, there is not much to see on the page, but fans of the original may be able to find something to get excited about if they look close enough…
Assassin’s Creed 2 is currently expected to be released before March 31 2010.
