Bethesda secures Fallout movie rights

19 April 2009

Joystiq recently spotted two newly filed trademarks on the US Patent and Trademark Office website.
Both of the patents were filed by Bethesda, creators of the massively popular Elder Scroll series, as well as the recent Fallout 3.

The trademarks in question were in relation to the use of the Fallout name in the context of a movie or television series. This comes after recent news that Bethesda may be trying to snag the rights to a Fallout MMO, which are currently in the possession of Interplay Studios.

This does not necessarily mean that a Fallout movie or television show is in the pipes, but it does indicate that Bethesda is looking to keep all future options open, and at the very least is intent on keeping the Fallout name to itself.
