Earlier this week we discussed rumors alleging that Thief 4 is currently in production.
As far as rumors go, this one was pretty solid, with Eidos making categorical statements that all but confirmed outright that the game is on the way.
Firstly, the Deus Ex developer stated that its next big announcement would be for a game starting with the letter T. This immediately led to speculation that the game in question would be a new Thief title, after all, it’s been five years and a new Thief game is about due.
The next clue was the real giveaway however, with Eidos declaring that it would be a follow up to a game that has appeared in GameSpot’s “Hall of Fame”, “Ten Best Heroes of Gaming”, and “Greatest Games of all Time”. An observant GameSpot forum user quickly pointed out that only one game has made all three lists, and that is Thief, which also happens to be made by Eidos and starts with a “T”. And thus, the rumor was all but confirmed.
The official confirmation that we were waiting for has finally arrived. Eidos has announced that Thief 4, or “THI4F” as the logo refers to it, is in development, but no information regarding a release time frame is available.
