Activision has announced that its upcoming Band Hero title will also feature add-on’s for the Nintendo DS Lite.

The plug-ins have been developed by Vicarious Visions, the same studio that previously took care of Guitar Hero: On Tour for the DS, and will support a “Guitar Grip” plug in for guitar and bass. Most significantly DS users will be able to get their hands on the new “Drum Grip” plug which will allow them to take their kit on the road with them.

Additionally users will also be able to sing along by virtue of the DS Lite’s built in microphone.

The game will feature 30 tracks “”today’s top artists–Blink-182, Avril Lavigne, The Killers, KT Tunstall, and Fall Out Boy”

The Guitar Hero: On Tour series currently garnered a score of 76 on Metacritic after it proved popular among DS fans. Activision is undoubtedly attempting to take full advantage of the mobile platform for the franchise by extending the offering. As it sits now, DS Lite players will have access to exactly the same instruments as console based Band Hero fans.

Band Hero is expected to ship in November 2009. Fans of the peripheral gaming phenomenon can also expect DJ Hero in October, although a DS Lite port has not yet been confirmed.
