Activision Blizzard has released its Q2 (April-June) financial results for 2009.
Between April and June this year the publisher earned $324 million from its MMORPG stable, which is almost entirely comprised of World of Warcraft revenue. It is no surprise that the figure is so staggering as WoW reportedly enjoys over 9 million paying subscribers at present.
The Xbox 360 raised $231 million over the period and the PS3 came in respectable with $151 million, despite Activision CEO Bobby Kotick announcing earlier this year that Sony’s console may not be financial viable for much longer.
Activision raised $118 million from Nintendo’s Wii, $48 million from the DS, $44 million from PS2 and $41 million from PC (excluding MMOs) and ‘other’.
The mega-publisher secured over $1billion in net revenue over the quarter.
