The Incredible Connection 2009 MSSA National Championships will be taking place this weekend at Northcliff Highschool in Gauteng.
The event promises to see the most competitive South African gamers going head to head, and is the only LAN gaming event that is recognized by the South African Confederation of Sport and Olympic Committee.
The event is being hosted by Northcliff High School as well as The Lair and Mayhem, with prizes being supplied by Verbatim.
The following games will be played at this year’s MSSA National Championships:
Call of Duty 4
Counter Strike 1.6
Defense of the Ancients
Quake 3
StarCraft: Brood War
Track Mania Nations Forever
FIFA 09 (Playstation 3)
Guitar Hero World Tour (XBox 360)
National medals will be awarded as follows:
Premier (overall): 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
University teams: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
High School: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
Players that do not place in the top 3 in their event will still be eligible to earn National and Provincial colours. Furthermore, players finishing in the top 20% of their chosen event will qualify to participate in national team trials.
In addition to being able to earn national medals and colours, as well as a shot at making the national team, players will also be able to win prizes sponsored by Verbatim. The following prizes will be awarded:

• Defence of the Ancients – 5 x Verbatim Rapier v1 Gaming Mouse’s
• Starcraft: Brood War – Verbatim Rapier v1 Gaming Mouse
• FIFA 09 – Verbatim 250GB HDD 2.5” Portable Drive
• Call of Duty 4 – Verbatim Storage Bundle which includes Verbatim 8 Gig Micro Flash Drive.
Participating gamers are reminded to check the championship schedule which can be found on the MSSA website and to be at the event at least one hour before their first game.
The event is open to spectator attendance and support is encouraged. MyGaming will be there taking photos and chatting to SA’s best gamers.
