Telkom Do Gaming has launched its own public gaming servers. This means that Do Gaming League servers will begin to move away from those hosted at the South African Internet Exchange (SAIX) under the SAIX Gaming Service banner.
Ricus Groenewald, Telkom Specialist for Gaming, said that the decision to launch public servers was taken as Telkom looks to expand its footprint into the gaming market.
“Our goal is to grow the number of gamers playing online by providing low latency servers optimised for gamers playing on Telkom ADSL. We also want to introduce them to the DGL and give them the opportunity to compete in the largest online gaming league in South Africa,” said Groenewald.
Telkom Do Gaming will be rolling out more servers over time and will move towards having the DGL matches played on the Do Gaming servers in the future, which will for now still be played on the SGS servers.
Robert Hart, DGL League Administrator, said the Do Gaming servers will start with several instances of Counter-Strike: GO, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and Call of Duty 4.
