Capcom announces Super Street Fighter IV

29 September 2009

Capcom has officially announced that it will be releasing a stand-alone follow up to Street Fighter IV, which will introduce a number of improvements to the existing game.

This comes in response to yesterday’s report that Capcom was planning to make a major Street Fighter announcement. Initially it was forecasted that the company would simply be releasing additional DLC content for the game but later it was made clear that Capcom is gearing up to make the most of the popular reception that Street Fighter IV has received since its release earlier this year.

Game Producer Yoshinori Ono told Game Spot yesterday that Super Street Fighter IV would include balance tweaks to all existing characters, eight new characters and improved online features. Three of these new fighters have been confirmed: T Hawke, Dee Jay and Juri.

Although the game will be sold as a stand-alone disk it will not be at full retail price. It is due to be released on PS3 in early 2010 although no confirmation that it will be released on Xbox 360 or PC has yet been given.
