This time every year, as the pre-holiday games hype-train enters its final stretch, the MTN Dome hosts South Africa’s biggest gaming and technology expo, as well as the country’s biggest LAN event.
With massive titles schedule to drop before the end of the year, including Modern Warfare 2, Assassin’s Creed 2, Forza 3, Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising, Borderlands and Guitar Hero 5, this year’s event promises to have loads of great stuff for gamers to preview and in some cases get exclusive hands-on time with.
While the 1,822 seat LAN sold out months ago, the expo is sure to have plenty in store for day visitors.

Attractions
KULT Fusion Anime Lounge
The anime cinema area will screen anime titles and will incorporate a café comprising of tables and chairs.
On the outskirts of the Lounge a series of PlayStation 3 gaming tournaments, Fan Art and Cosplay (anime costume creation) areas will be incorporated to enhance the experience. A ‘Magic the Gathering’ Role Playing card game tournament is also planned in addition to a Cosplay show on the main stage on Saturday 3 October 2009 at 14h00. A host of branded and related items will be available to the public. KULT Fusion is located at Stand AA on the floorplan.

Idols playoff @ rAge 2009
Sunday 4 October 2009 from 11h00 – 13h00
Idols finalists Graeme Watkins and Munro du Toit will once again take centre stage for the ultimate sing-off contest. Watkins and du Toit, who both came third in the last two respective seasons of South African Idols, will battle it out, each singing a song from Xbox 360’s Lips at rAge 2009.
LanGames TV Launches at rAge 2009
Watch live coverage of rAge 2009 where LanGames will launch a full broadcast channel that is aimed at the technologically inclined community. The content will be centred on technology, gadgets and media and is aiming for a very broad demographic age ranging from as young as 14 up to 55.
The original broadcast will take on three formats:
• A webcast format which will be accessible from any browser connected to the internet.
• A mobicast that can be accessed via any GPRS enabled cell phone
• A fully fledged Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) broadcast accessible from any compatible client software that exists in home entertainment game consoles (Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation)

Players will do a 1 vs 1 battle in Guitar Hero: World Tour on Xbox 360 for a chance to compete against the winners from 72 other countries in the World Cyber Games Grand Finals taking place in Chengdu, China from 11-15 November 2009.

A rAge gaming rig valued at over R70 000 is up for grabs at rAge 2009. Grab a copy of NAG, SACM, SL Magazine, MXit, NAG Facebook or the Sunday Times for a competition entry form. The rig will be on display at the NAG stand (stand 40) for everyone to drool over.
Arena 77 Quake 3 Tournament
Arena 77, in conjunction with Intel, Sapphire and ATI will be hosting a Quake 3 tournament at rAge 2009. The tournament format will comprise of a random draw 1v1 single elimination competition with prizes worth over R100 000 up for grabs. Winners up to 15th place will be eligible for part of the prize pot. The tournament will take place on stage (stand K) and will be played on high-end sponsored PC’s.
The winner will be flown to Sweden to compete in the Dreamhack Quake Live competition.
