EA’s recently rebranded subsidiary Visceral Games is reportedly developing a game based on London serial killer Jack the Ripper, reports the LA Times.
Visceral Games, previously known as Redwood Shores, is the developmental team responsible for Dead Space. Currently the studio is busying itself with completing the God of War inspired Dante’s Inferno and is reportedly increasing its efforts on a Dead Space Sequel.
Two sources have told the Times that Visceral’s next game would be based on Jack the Ripper. Video Gaming 24/7 has also picked up trademark registrations from EA for the term ‘The Ripper’.
It seems likely, based on the evidence at hand, that Visceral will be developing the game. Whether it will be a success however remains to be seen. IGN reports that the studio has been accused of mishandling the literary facts behind Dante’s Inferno, which might concern more discerning gamers.
No official announcement regarding the game has yet been made but, judging from the number of titles Visceral is currently working on, it seems unlikely that it will be released before late 2010.
