11 October 2012

Jaco Cronje

Entelect Software, in partnership with NAG magazine, have wrapped up their R100,000 coding competition.

Jaco Cronje was the winner, and walked away with the R100,000 prize. Gustav Mauer took the runner up position.

At the final, the coders competed by writing an AI (artificial intelligence) program with the ability to take on an opponent in a game of light-bikes, made popular by Tron.

Cronje, an Image Processing Researcher in the Optronic Sensor Systems group at CSIR, was thrilled with his victory.

“I enjoy working on difficult programming challenges with my experience ranging from embedded software development to game programming, 3D graphics, virtual-reality simulator development and more, so this challenge and winning it has been the most amazing experience,” he said.
