The man considered by many to be the official live action Mario, Lou Albano, has passed away.
Albano played Mario in the late 80s TV show, “Super Mario Brothers Super Show”.
Albano had suffered a severe heart attack in 2005, which lead to him being hospitalized. His health continued to deteriorate, until he finally passed away yesterday in his home at the age of 76.
Before playing Mario, Albano was a professional wrestler in the WWF circuit. While he was better known for his wrestinlg career, gamers around the world will always remember him as Mario.
