Research firm NPD has released the official game sales figures for the month of October. The numbers reflect the top 10 selling games in the US only.
Unsurprisingly, Uncharted 2 takes the number one spot for the month, and is currently the most highly rated game of the year, maintaining a Metacritic score of 96. What will come as some surprise to many is that Borderlands for Xbox 360 sold an impressive 418,000 units, yet the PS3 release did not even place top 10, which means it could not have sold more than 156,000 units. This may be partly due to the stiff competition it faced on the platform from Uncharted 2.
| Title | Units sold | Release Month |
| Uncharted 2 (PS3) | 537,000 | 13 Oct |
| Wii Fit Plus (Wii) | 441,000 | 6 Oct |
| Borderlands (360) | 418,000 | 20 Oct |
| Wii Sports Resort (Wii) | 314,000 | 28 July |
| NBA 2K10 (360) | 311,000 | 6 Oct |
| Halo 3: ODST (360) | 271,000 | 22 Sept |
| NBA 2K10 (PS3) | 213,000 | 6 Oct |
| Forza 3 (360) | 175,000 | 27 Oct |
| Kingdom Hearts 358/2Days (DS) | 169,000 | 29 Sept |
| Fifa 10 (360) | 156,000 | 20 Oct |
At first glance, Forza 3 seems to have placed lower than expected given the hype which surrounded its launch. However, the game was only on sale for the last 4days of the month.
