According to a recent EA job listing picked up by Joystiq, Visceral Games’ Dead Space sequel could bring online multiplayer to the series.
The listing, found on LinkedIn, is seeking a “Senior Online Level Designer for the Dead Space franchise on Xbox360 and PS3.” who should “be able to work collaboratively with Creative Director and Online Producer to create extremely fun, satisfying and polished multiplayer levels.”
Although only console versions were mentioned this may mean that Visceral intends to offer multiplayer support across all ports of the game with a primary focus on the console releases.
Although Dead Space 2 has not yet been officially announced news agency Reuters reported earlier this month that the game will be released next year.
In late September another job listing on LinkedIn revealed that “”The game is in the later stages of pre-production, ready for production in the next few months, with many of the navigational and combat mechanics in place,” and added that the Dead Space 2 team will have “complete autonomy and creative control” in its decisions on the game.
Currently Visceral Games is busying itself with the development of Dante’s Inferno which is due for release in February next year.
