Supreme Commander 2 gets release date

20 November 2009

Publisher Square Enix has announced that the Supreme Commander 2 will be released next year on March 2 for PC and March 16 for Xbox 360.

The first Supreme Commander is widely regarded to be the spiritual successor to the classic 90s RTS Total Annihilation.

Chris Taylor of GasPowered Games said “The partnership with Square Enix has been a highlight of my career” and “I couldn’t be more proud of what the team has accomplished, as the game has continually exceeded all of my expectations throughout its development”

The game is likely to be released around the same time as StarCraft II, in which case it will be difficult to compete with Blizzard’s RTS heavyweight. Many gamers are commenting that the game looks “made for console”, unlike StarCraft II which will be exclusive to PC.
