Steam has revealed the best-selling games on the digital platform over the last week, which were undoubtedly influenced by the Steam Summer Sale.
Interestingly enough, Civilization V: A Brave New World was released last week and carried no special price, making its finish on top very impressive.
1. Sid Meier’s Civilization V: A Brave New World
Sid Meier’s Civilization V got its long-awaited second official expansion pack, and it already dominated the charts after just being released.
The turn-based strategy game’s new expansion adds new gameplay elements through the introduction of international trade, and a stronger focus on culture and diplomacy.
Also included are nine new civilizations, eight wonders (the Parthenon, Broadway, Globe Theatre, The Motherland Calls, Borobudur, the International Space Station, the Uffizi, the Red Fort, and Prora), two scenarios (American Civil War and Scramble for Africa), Trade Routes, Ideologies, the World Congress which expands the diplomatic aspect of the game, and an improved Cultural Victory.
2. BioShock Infinite
Irrational Games’ interesting setting departure of Bioshock Infinite definitely raised some eyebrows, and its tight shooting, gorgeous visuals and incredible story definitely roped in the Steam buyers this week.
Anyone who has played Bioshock Infinite can say that the game is arguably the best of the year (so far), and it’s no surprise that it falls into number 2.
3. Borderlands 2
Gearbox’s insane shooter/RPG hybrid is still making waves, and Steam users couldn’t resist the great discount this last week.
The colourful and vivid visuals, over-the-top enemies and outrageous plotline continues to keep the PC gamers coming back, and the impressive expansion packs have more than justified a purchase almost a year on from the game’s release.
4. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition
Skyrim’s play-time-for-money value is incredible, and given that the Legendary Edition comes with the three previous expansions, along with a special Steam price, its practically impossible to say no.
As one of the highest rated games of all time, the Legendary Edition is a great package for those who missed out to experience Skyrim in its entirety.
The super-special edition features the original game (along with the new 1.9 update), as well as the three expansions – Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn.
5. Borderlands 2 Season Pass
Borderlands 2 was obviously a big draw during the Steam Summer Sale, and the season pass was an obvious buy for those looking to cash in on the Borderlands 2 DLC.
With the season pass, Steam users got access to the expansions: Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty, Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt and the Ultimate Vault Hunter pack.
6. Civilization V Gold Edition
7. Tomb Raider
8. Left 4 Dead 2
9. The Walking Dead
10. Half-Life Complete
