PopCap has released some new details on the upcoming Plants vs Zombies third-person shooter spin-off, Garden Warfare.
The developer explained that the game would be multiplayer-only and will benefit from on-going content releases.
“We definitely want to build on the game once it’s launched. We’re definitely taking a cue from Plants vs Zombies 2. Using DLC and new content updates, we want to keep players engaged in the long haul,” said Creative director Justin Wiebe.
Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare will launch “exclusively first” on Xbox 360 and Xbox One in 2014, with a PC release date to be announced.
As for the pricing, Wiebe also explained that the next-gen and current-gen version would differ.
“PopCap’s had really good success around lower to mid-tier priced games, so, when Garden Warfare debuts on Xbox One, it will be $39.99 as both a retail and downloadable title. The Xbox 360 and PC versions will be even more affordable, retailing for $29.99,” said Wiebe.
That would put the Xbox One version at R410*, while the Xbox 360 and PC version would retail for around R310*.
The Xbox One version does feature an exclusive Boss mode, which allows players to use SmartGlass or Kinect to have top-down view of the battlefield, playing as either Dr. Zomboss or Crazy Dave to drop items for your own team and attacks against the opposition.
