Valve is currently hosting its Steam Dev Days conference which is closed to the press. Of course, there are plenty of attendees willing to share details, and SteamDB is in the process of compiling highlights from the conference.

Out the gates, Valve boss Gabe Newell revealed that they are planning to do away with the Steam Greenlight project, which allows users to vote in which in-development games get a spot on the Steam Store.

“Our goal is to make Greenlight go away. Not because it’s not useful, but because we’re evolving,” Said Newell.

Reportedly, Newell said that Valve wants developers to take control of the Steam Store and how they promote their games.
