We’ve got some good news, some more good news, and some confusing news for you.
The good news is that there’s a new Crysis game coming; some more good news is that you can definitely play it with near minimal specs; and the confusing news is that it’s a board game.
That’s right, Crysis: Analogue Edition is an officially licensed board game which takes the super-powered shooter to the table-top for something a little different to what we’re used to with Crytek’s series.
“Aside from granting us the Crysis license for this game, the design team of the original Crysis series has assisted us with original visual assets and was part of our QA team for this game,” said the game’s development team, Frame6. “This collaboration should guarantee a true to the original experience while providing original content for a core board gamer audience.“
Frame 6 describes it as a fast-paced strategy game for 2-8 players, with Team Instant Action or Capture the Relay modes.
Two factions (CELL and US forces) fight over a hex grid, using different nanosuit abilities, cover and other items represented with cards and dice rolls. You can get a better idea for how the game works in the video above.
The board game is being promoted and funded through a Kickstarter campaign, which has a funding goal of €85,000 to reach by June 12th.
At the moment, it has raised just under €27,000, so if you’re interested in helping out, check out the Kickstarter page.
