The Division may offer the best visual experience on PC, the improved frame rate doesn’t hurt either, but it’s far from perfect.
There have been reports on Reddit and NeoGAF, via sites like GameSpot and DSO Gaming, that the game’s netcode is easily exploited by players taking part in the beta.
This has lead to cheating by means of a number of exploits that take advantage of player statistics granting unlimited health, ammo, super-speed, critical hit chance, no recoil and unlimited medical kits.
Why is this happening? According to users on Reddit threads like this one, or this one as well as NeoGAF, this is occurring because a player’s statistics is stored client side.
Users can easily alter these statistics and then ‘push’ them online. Allegedly, the game’s server accepted the altered statistics with no problem, whatsoever.

We don’t quite understand why there are so many exploiting the beta.
It’s happening because there’s little to no protection over client statistics, fair enough; but exploiting the game, removing any sense of challenge or reward in the process, just seems infantile to us.
As we see it, Ubisoft Massive has two ways forward with The Division.
They either pull up their socks and fix their game’s netcode, much the same way DICE has been working tirelessly on Battlefield 4. Or, it’s going to go the way of DayZ, as it dies a slow, painful death.
The Division launches on the March 8th, 2016 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Here’s hoping it launches with a protected client.
