The most ridiculous videogame movie announcement yet

27 September 2016

With Angry Birds earning over $300 million at the box office, videogames are the new superheroes as studios scramble to find the hottest new property.

The next game getting the Hollywood treatment? Fruit Ninja, according to this article by The Hollywood Reporter.

The script, which is being J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani, will “revolve around a team of misfits who are recruited to become Fruit Ninjas in order to save the world.”

“New Line partnered with Halfbrick Studios and began developing the property as a live-action family comedy based on the best-selling game that revolves around ninjas who slice fruit at a rapid clip.”

Perhaps this shouldn’t come as a surprise, as Fruit Ninja is the second-highest-selling iOS game of all time, with over 1 billion downloads.
