NASA is offering R420,000 to whoever solves the problem of pooping in space

NASA has created the “Space Poop Challenge“, calling on the science community to help it come up with a way to deal with waste in space.

NASA astronauts traditionally wear diapers to take care of their bodily needs while they’re launching, landing or spacewalking.

However, these diapers are only good for a few hours, making for very unhygienic circumstances.

If you are interested in taking part, you can check out the full details below:

Description: The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) seeks proposed solutions for fecal, urine, and menstrual management systems to be used in the crew’s launch and entry suits over a continuous duration of up to 144 hours. An in-suit waste management system would be beneficial for contingency scenarios or for any long duration tasks.
