August is lining up some pretty big games for your fingers, thumbs, and eyeballs, with the highly-anticipated releases of Darksiders II, Sleeping Dogs and Guild Wars 2; but there are still some games that could easily go unnoticed in this forthcoming busy gaming period.
Death Rally (3 August)
The classic Death Rally returns, entirely rebuilt for PC with enhanced graphics upgrades shining through its new rendering engine. Camera and controls have been fully optimized for PC and career mode has been improved by unifying the single player and multiplayer progress.
The PC version also includes new features such as the new track “Savo” and a return of the “Shadow Man”, a familiar figure from the original Death Rally.
Grand Theft Auto III (August)
One of the PS2’s most prolific and highly-rated games of all time heads to the PS3.
Grand Theft Auto III makes its jump to the current-gen, and although it’s a port (therefore lacking trophies and additional upgrades), you’re still getting a chance to play (or re-play) the original king of open-world crime games. Priced at $9.99 (around R 82), there’s not much more of a bargain coming in August.
New Super Mario Bros. 2 (19 August)
This new side-scrolling instalment in the fan-favorite Super Mario Bros. franchise launches 19 August 2012. Players can transform into Gold Mario and Raccoon Mario, and challenge friends to beat their high scores in the new Coin Rush Mode. Also, for the first time in a hand-held Mario title, players can enjoy a cooperative two-player mode via a local wireless connection.
