So often we celebrate the gruff, brutal and downright manly heroes of the video game world, but 2013 is looking to bring a feminine touch to the gaming scene, and it’s time to celebrate those heroines of gaming.
Nilin – Remember Me
Remember Me is an upcoming game where you take control of Nillin, a woman plagued with amnesia in 2084 neo-Paris.
Nilin is also on the run from government forces, and has to use her acrobatic skills, quick thinking and general badassery to survive the adventure which awaits her.
Kat – DmC: Devil May Cry
While DmC’s real hero is obviously Dante, Kat plays an integral role in the action hack-‘n-slash.
Kat acts as a guide of sorts to Dante, and despite everything against her, constantly risks her life in order to fight the demons which have corrupted the world.
Lara Croft – Tomb Raider
What’s any list of heroines without the queen of them all – Lara Croft.
This time, however, we see an inexperienced pre-Tomb Raiding Lara Croft, who has to learn the ways of survival, and quickly.
We’ll see Lara evolve from a naïve 21-year old into an unrelenting fighter as Ms. Croft will have to endure her mental and physical limits with pirates, wildlife and just about everything else trying to kill her.
Ellie – The Last of Us
Ellie is an unlikely hero, but one that shouldn’t be underestimated.
Despite being a young girl, Ellie will be vital during her and Joel’s journey across a derelict US, as she can distract the infected, help Joel with obstacles and even take a life herself.
Jodie Holmes – Beyond: Two Souls
Beyond: Two Souls is the next project from Quantic Dream (Heavy Rain) and stars a young girl by the name of Jodie Holmes, who has a psychic link with an invisible entity, which grants her extraordinary supernatural powers.
Jodie, who is portrayed by Ellen Page via motion capture, will apparently be trotting across the globe in her adventures, and players will be able to control both her and her psychic entity.
