There are a lot of South African gaming projects that are worth taking not of, and one in particular that warrants some serious attention is System Crash.
System Crash is a cyberpunk collectible card game (CCG), and is in development at Rogue Moon studios, a local gaming developer aiming to bring a unique experience to the indie gaming scene.
System Crash takes place in the year 2113, where humans have become slaves to corporations pushing consumerism and mass media. Players take control of a “runner”, who operates outside of the system, taking on high-risk jobs in order to get closer to sabotaging the corporations.
Given the genre, the “runs” or jobs are represented through card games, requiring the player to rack up points against an opposing controller, usually a corporate security rival, or someone trying to foil your plans.
The card games have some tricks though, as you can recruit agents to help with the job, purchase equipment and software, and strategically execute your gameplan.
System Crash features more than 50 unique cards to unlock and experiment with, along with over 50 missions to complete.
The world which the CCG is built around is fully-realised, bringing a unique story and original soundtrack, composed by Jonathan Reverie.
The game is currently in its beta form, and Rogue Moon Studios wants gamers to try out System Crash’s playable form.
