Let’s get the bad news out of the way – you will not be playing these games this year.
I know it’s only the second month of 2015, but the year will be over quicker than you think and the titles you were longing for won’t have been delivered.
Although we have seen these games and know they exist, their lengthy development times will keep them out of your hands for some time.
These games won’t see a 2015 release.
Mass Effect 4
We have not seen enough of Mass Effect 4 to even prove that it is in a playable state right now. The first time we had a glimpse at Bioware’s space RPG, it was a developer diary showcasing concept art and a few renders.
Sure the game will be great, no doubt about that, but will it be ready for 2015 – probably not.
Mirror’s Edge 2
Do not deny that you squealed when EA and Dice showed off some Mirror’s Edge 2 footage at last year’s E3 press conference.
EA has a reputation for announcing games that either never see the light of day, or take forever and a day to reach completion. Let us take the original Mirror’s Edge, for example: EA promised so much more after the success of the game in 2008, yet we never heard anything about the title for six years.
Homefront: The Revolution
THQ, why did you have to leave us so soon? Homefront: The Revolution was originally revealed in 2011 – a year before the studio filed for bankruptcy. Crytek came along and took up the franchise, and in 2014 re-revealed the game.
We have already seen a beautiful cinematic revealing the game’s setting and feel, but that has been about it. Either Crytek is very busy with its other titles like Arena of Fate and Hunted, or it is waiting for the holiday season to punt this title.
The Legend of Zelda
Nintendo’s signature franchise was shown off last year, with some jaw-dropping footage greeting gamers’ eyes.
As with Nintendo, however, its great titles are always “coming soon”. They will announce the game, saying it is coming soon. Show it off at a Nintendo direct event, and say it is coming soon. And just as we expect it to launch, Nintendo will say the title “needs more time”.
Final Fantasy XV
As much as I want to believe that Square Enix’s latest RPG will hit the shelves this year, I have to look back at the development history of the series.
This game started off as Final Fantasy Versus XIII in 2006 – 9 years ago. We saw it come and go every year – sometimes it would make our “M.I.A” list, but we always knew it was there. In 2013 we finally saw what we originally knew as Final Fantasy Versus XIII, but now remastered and renamed Final Fantasy XV.
Let us give the studio the time, though, it needs it.
Kingdom Hearts III
It has been a long time coming, but we finally know that Sora, Donald, and Goofy will return after a prolonged break.
Skipping an entire console generation, Kingdom Hearts III was in the dark until Square Enix announced in 2013 it had started developing the title. Using the power of Unreal Engine 4, the game is sure to look great.

Cyberpunk 2077 should also be on the list….sadly. Not much info on it though.
