The PlayStation Access YouTube channel recently put together a list of gaming mechanics they thought would be amazing if they were real.
We loved the idea some much that we put together our own list.
If only real life could be more like a video game.
Quick Save
Imagine you are about to finally tell your significant other you hate the way they chew during romantic meals – the outcome is your console thrown out of the nearby window.
Instead, quick save, say what you want to say to get it off your chest, and load up again.
The quick save feature would be great for everyday life – you could literally just do everything again if you are unhappy with the result or just want to experience something different.
Mundane Quests
Sure, running around collecting Lavender doesn’t sound like fun, but it sure beats your real job.
Completing side quests for people around the world would not only help you explore foreign lands, but the rewards will be epic.
Go to the shops and buy bread for the old lady next door and she will give you 1000 gold. 1000 gold man!
Inventory
Tired of those multiple trips to the car to fetch the groceries? Well, this is a thing of the past with the inventory system. You can now place multiple objects in your pocket at the same time without worrying about your pants bursting.
The inventory system will be a courier’s ultimate dream as he will be able to deliver anything he wants without carting it around with him in a truck.
Duplication Glitch
Although this is not really a feature, quite a few games have this bug. This would not be a bug in the real world, but a way to take advantage of everything.
You just ordered a Whopper and know you need two to fill that empty hole in your life.
Never fear, just place the whopper in your inventory, and press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start.
When your return you have 2 Whoppers instead of one.
Fast Travel
The idea of opening an atlas, choosing a city, and being instantly taken there is probably the greatest idea since they decided to put frozen yoghurt in a self-service machine.
A fast travel will only take you to any landmark location that you have been to before (damn Xenoblade Chronicles), though.
This means you will have to visit a land prior to fast travelling there later.
No one said it would be easy.
Auto Battle
Ever have those days where you feel like sitting back and watching your life play out in front of you?
Welcome to auto battle, or more like auto-life.
Auto battle will allow you to put your life on auto play, just like another tedious Behemoth battle in Final Fantasy XIII.
Be warned, not all those auto battles in Final Fantasy actually worked out, and most of the time they ended with you shouting: “Why the hell would you use that attack?”
Auto-Tune
Your car is getting slow and making a few sounds that you are worried about.
Not a problem. You quick save, fast travel to the auto tune shop, take out the car parts out of your inventory that you found along your travels, hand over the gold you were rewarded from your quests, and get tuning.
Bring on the LED-lit 12-inch sub-woofers and diamond-encrusted spinners.
Which video game abilities do you wish you had? Let us know in the comments and forum.
