A crowdfunding effort to develop a remake of the Commodore 64 computer is currently underway, PCGamer reports.
A UK company seeks to create “The 64” – a remake of the Commodore 64 desktop and handheld devices. The devices will feature tons of retro games and cater for players who enjoyed the original Commodore 64.
The platform will implement modern hardware features and processing power while retaining the retro design and interface of the Commodore 64, although the desktop version will be slightly slimmer and feature both a cartridge slot and SD card slot.
The handheld version of the 64 has a retro design with functionality similar to an NES controller or Gameboy.
Both devices will come pre-loaded with a variety of games and, due to the amount of free retro games available online and the platform’s SD card storage option, there will be a ton of games available to enjoy at launch.
