Steelseries Rival mouse sneak-peek at rAge 2013

During rAge 2013, MyGaming sat down with Dan Sonderskov, SteelSeries marketing manager, to discuss the company’s newest trick up their sleeve, the Rival gaming mouse.

While the final product is still to be revealed,  Sonderskov showed MyGaming a prototype of the mouse.

It boasted slick, clean lines and lacked obtrusive bells, whistles, and LEDs. The surface shell was matte plastic coloured black, while the side finger grips were textured rubber. Since this was a prototype, the final version may feature a revised design.

In terms of the nuts and bolts, the Rival is an optical high-performance mouse that is said to rival (pun intended) and beat “any other mouse in specs and price in the market”. The Rival is aimed to be cost efficient yet deliver the same level of quality as a high-end mouse.

The Rival also features new switches which are meant to be durable and can handle up to 30 million clicks. They can also tilt and work dynamically for different types of gamers.

The final Rival versions will be ambidextrous and boast 6,500 DPI sensors.

“This is not a flashy bling product,” said Sonderskov; “It’s a high-performance and high-value gaming mouse.”
