Radeon RX 480

AMD recently revealed its lower-end Polaris graphics cards, including the Radeon RX 470 and the RX 480M.

Although we received few details and specifications regarding the upcoming graphics cards, AMD did release a collection of benchmarks which detail the performance of the Polaris GPUs.

Guru3D used AMD’s Radeon RX 470 benchmarks to construct a comparison including a variety of current graphics cards, and found that it scores only 5% below the GeForce GTX 970, a popular mid-range Maxwell GPU.

The Radeon RX 470 attains an impressive score of 9,090 using the 3DMark FireStrike benchmark, only slightly below the GeForce GTX 970’s score of 9,568.

AMD’s budget-oriented showcase the increased price-to-performance ratio offered by newer graphics architectures.

The AMD Radeon RX 470 will retail for a recommended price of $149, offering a large amount of power for its relatively low price.
