Incredible Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 SLI benchmarks revealed

21 June 2016

Running the GTX 1080 in an SLI configuration takes a great card and makes it even better.

This is according to recent benchmarks released by Techpowerup which show that the cards can easily manage 4K gaming at 60 FPS, with some games even passing the 100 FPS mark.

Unfortunately, setting up the GTX 1080’s in SLI is not as easy as it has been in the past, with a SLI HB Bridge now being required as opposed to the old SLI connectors (although a non-branded bridge will do).

This is the test bench Techpowerup used alongside the 1080’s:

  • Processor: Intel Core i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz (Skylake, 8192 KB Cache)
  • Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VIII Hero Intel Z170
  • Memory: G.SKILL 16 GB Trident-Z DDR4 at 3000 MHz 15-16-16-35
  • Storage: WD Caviar Blue WD10EZEX 1 TB
  • Power Supply: Antec HCP-1200 1200W
  • Monitor: Acer CB240HYKbmjdpr 24″ 3840×2160

The minimum fps matters. Can have like 20 fps in some areas but then get like 200 fps somewhere else then it evens out to be 60.
